The glass is placed mouth down on the saucer and covered with the can. Then, one by one, the walnuts vanish from the hands and appear under the glass.

The mystery is deepened in that it seems impossible for the nuts to be placed under the glass by stealth: Such an action would be betrayed by some sound as the nuts hit the glass or the saucer.

METHOD: This fine trick was invented by Mark Jacobs and was planned for release as a commercial item in 1940. Mr. Jacobs intended to sell the trick as a two-page manuscript. He sent samples of the manuscript to select magic-dealers to get their response to the item before advertising it. This method of product testing was a common practice at the time. Apparently, the reaction was not favorable and the manuscript was never released. Yet Milton Kort, who worked for Sterling Magic at the time, recognized a good trick-despite its marketability-when he saw one. He put "Mark's Modernized Cups and Balls" into his repertoire.

Around 1950,

Mr. Vernon stopped in Detroit to lecture. While there Mr. Kort performed the Mark Jacobs trick for him. Mr. Vernon admired it and asked permission to perform it. Because of this, and because it is so little known, the trick will be described as Mr. Vernon performed it. The body of the trick is still very much Mr. Jacobs. However, small changes in the handling have been added by Mr. Vernon, giving it his distinctive touch.

You will receive:

***The Vernon Chronicles Volume 2 which contains the Dai Vernon routine and instructions.
